Living Awe: the art and science of self-transcendence- Talk and musical performance
Have you ever had that momentary sense of the world coming to a standstill, where you feel but a tiny part of some grand and yet inscrutable vastness. This is what we call Awe, a state that has long been pondered by philosophers and spiritual teachers but has more recently come to the sustained attention of scientists. Xander Stell has spent most of his life wondering about this moment, how it works, what it means and also how to induce it in others. Drawing on both his research as a psychologist as well as his musical compositions, Xander will be taking us along with him on a journey of awe.
